Baby Carrier: Ring-tailed Lemurs (Lemur catta)
|
Newborn Ringtails cling to their mother’s bellies – within 3 days they are moving around her body actively. When about two to four weeks old, baby Ringtails are riding on their mother’s back. They will continue to use her back as a safe spot to return to for the next four months or so, as they gradually become more independent. Ringtails live in social groups, and all the females tend to have their babies within a day of one another – so the youngsters all have plenty of playmates to learn and grow with! |
