Baby Carrier: Grey Kangaroo (Macropus giganteus)

Baby Carrier: Kangaroo

Kangaroo mothers have one baby (joey) each year.

Like many marsupials, it is born tiny, hairless, and blind – and must find its way to its mother’s pouch, where her teats are.

Joeys do not completely leave their mother’s pouch until they are between 7 and 10 months old – and quite large!

They continue suckling until they are 18 months old – even as the pouch is occupied by a younger sibling on another teat.
