Nice carrier for small baby

I bought one of these carriers for my newborn and she has basically lived in it from about one month to three months old. She still goes in it on walks or while I do housework, but it's starting to hurt my upper back to carry her for long periods (she is under 12 pounds, but I still haven't recovered all of my abdominal muscle strength after pregnancy). The carrier is very easy to use; I can put baby in or take her out without assistance and while holding her. It has been a great help for mild colic - when she was fussy I would put her in this carrier and dance around to music to soothe her. She even went through a short period where the only way to get her to sleep was in this carrier, and then gently take her out without waking her. Also, I'm 5 foot and my husband is 6'2" and we can both use it. One thing to know about this carrier is that some babies have a tendency (especially while sleeping) to "faceplant" into your chest; I kept her from suffocating by rolling up a burp rag and placing it on her chest to hold her back a couple inches so that she could breathe. When she was little it looked like the leg holes were uncomfortably far apart, but she seemed to love the carrier so much that it must not have bothered her. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it does not distribute baby's weight perfectly on your back - tends to concentrate in the mid to upper back which raises your center of gravity and strains muscles. Keep in mind that I was lugging baby around in this for about 12 hours for every 24 hour period though!

Good for small baby

I love baby carriers in general because they're much easier to navigate than a stroller and they keep baby close and happy. I used the Baby Bjorn Original carrier when my daughter was very young. Once she got to around 15 lbs, my back started to really hurt, especially if I carried her facing outward. I didn't make the connection between the Baby Bjorn and my back until I read several webpages that noted how ergonomically incorrect the Baby Bjorn is. I would recommend this carrier if your baby is small, but once your baby grows a bit, I suggest looking elsewhere....

Stylish and secure for baby!

I have used Baby Bjorn with all my kids (4 of them!) and have loved it. The new version is easier to use than the first ones, and it is very stylish if you are a hip mom! The only problem I've encountered is that the button loop for use with very small babies is hard for me to secure. Still, I wouldn't trade mine for anything! I have back problems and this carrier is actually easier on my back than just carrying my baby in my arms. Well worth the money.

Great Carrier

This is a great carrier. It is very easy to use; easy to strap our daughter in. We did a lot of traveling with our daughter over her 4th & 5th months and it was great for the airport/airplane. We also used it often for walks around the neighborhood so we could walk the dog too (difficult to do with a stroller). There was some upper back discomfort, but not too bad especially as we got used to it (built up our muscles). Some of the other Bjorn carriers might have been better for our backs, but I preferred the simpler design. This website had a great price and quick delivery on the Bjorn Original Carrier.

This is by far the best shower gift you can give or recieve. My six month old son loves being in his carrier. I like to have him close to me and still be hands free. The veiw is much better from my chest than the view from the stroller I'm sure.I also like that I can just toss it in the wash. This a must have for any and every parent.

Dreamy

Its dreamy powers for soothing fussy babies has landed this top-of-the-line front carrier a spot on the baby essentials list for many a grateful parent. Available in several stylish, gender-neutral fabrics, and made with wide, generously padded straps that eliminate shoulder and neck strain, this carrier will please moms and dads alike (note: Extra large straps are available, at an additional charge, for exceptionally tall parents). The first time using the contraption may be confusing and feel clumsy, but soon the setup will be effortless. Newborns as small as 8 pounds and 21 inches will enjoy facing inward, cradled by the comfortable, supportive headrest (leg straps keep smaller babies extra secure); older babies with better head control will love facing outward. Breastfeeding moms can nurse conveniently and discreetly with the Baby Bjorn, and parents can easily transfer a sleeping baby to a crib without disruption. The 100-percent cotton, machine-washable carrier can safely support a baby up to 33 pounds--though seasoned parents usually graduate to a backpack carrier well before then. But for the many months in between, most new parents agree wholeheartedly: This front carrier is well worth the investment.
